About Us
At SHBELC we provide a "home away from home". The Centre has been renowned within the local community for many decades with the Kindergarten opening in the 1930’s. SHBELC comprises of five learning environments, referred to as program areas, all of which have access to an architecturally designed natural outdoor play space. We pride ourselves on understanding what babies, toddlers and kindergarten aged children need to thrive. We create an environment that supports parents in giving their child a memorable and positive start through their formative years.
SHBELC is well known for its focus on Community Connection, facilitating inclusive programs to further enhance a sense of belonging for all those connected to the Centre. We welcome children from six months to school age and embrace the unique opportunity within the early learning setting to step well beyond ‘childcare’ by offering a secure and safe environment where curiosity is encouraged, concepts are explored, and discovery is celebrated as we assist children achieve rich and successful learning outcomes. SHBELC offers a seamless transition for children progressing from the Early Years Learning Hub into the funded three and four year old Kindergarten Programs.
The Christian ethos and values that underpins all elements of the Centre is pivotal in providing a program to our community that places the children’s needs first and a curriculum that is staffed by people that believe in the integrity of family. These values are presented in ways that are natural and relevant to the community. We approach any interaction with people with respect, ethics, integrity and empathy. We collaborate, communicate and make decisions together.
Overall, our desire is to continue exceeding the national standards in quality care and education, so each child experiences a nurturing environment that prepares them not only for the next stage of their learning journey, but for life..
